CUUUUUUUUUUBA!

So in the last week of June Tyler booked us an impromtu trip to Cuba! Lucky for us we have jobs that we can take off work pretty much whenever we want so away we went. We left on Saturday night and stayed over night in Calgary at my little sisters apartment and flew in to Cuba Sunday afternoon. The humidity about killed us as soon as we walked off the airplane and it took pretty much the whole week to get used to it. We stayed at an all inclusive called Oasis Turquesa. It was decent...in regards to Cuban standards I guess...

Just Arriving (SOOO WHITE!)

The beaches were absolutely beautiful and the water was so warm. There is just something that I absolutely love about just relaxing on the beach...Tyler not much of a relaxer...he couldn't seem to sit for very long but managed to collect a lot of seashells!

Ignore the tummy-I'm pregnant ok!

The first day there we rented some scooters and drove around the coast and Varadero. It was surprisingly fun and hot. We were so sweaty the whole time. We found some markets and Tyler really enjoyed the old style architecture and of course the old cars. (He took like 5 billion pictures of old cars!)

The next day we lazed on a the beach and of course what would a trip with Tyler be without GOLF. Yes me being the amazing wife I am golfed with Tyler in Cuba. I'm pretty sure we were the only people on the course and it was absolutely beautiful. Luckily we brought our clubs all the way from Canada so Tyler could shoot one of the best rounds of his life. It was actually really fun.

Another day we booked a tour to Havana, the capital city. We both loved learning about the culture and revolutions that took place in Cuba. We loved the architecture, the streets and Tyler loved all the old women smoking Cuban cigars. It was fun to see a different part of the country.

On one of our last days we went on a catamaran out into the Ocean and snorkled and hung out with the dolphins...literally. This day was crazy. It was raining when we woke up to leave and half the people who had booked for that day chose not to go, but since me and Tyler were h-core (and it was our only day we could go) we headed on the bus rain or shine. Then we board the catamaran and they tell us it might not go out and 2/3 of the people on the boat get off but we stood our ground. Needless to say the boat eventually left and the day was beautiful and hot with not a drop of rain. Those crazy Cubans need to learn about how to predict the weather. This was my absolute favorite day of the trip. We met some great people and just had a great day.

Finally on Sunday we headed home. I was sad to leave the warmth and the beach but happy to get home to food I could eat again! I have such an appreciation for seasoning, ketchup, peanut butter and alberta beef now. We learned to find things there that we liked. Tyler found the ice cream and the cola and I found the pineapple/oranges. It was The first thing we ate when we hit the road was a big burger from McDonalds. It was one of the funnest weeks of my life. It was so great to be able to spend time together and enjoy a new country. What a great last hoorah before this child comes and changes EVERYTHING!
