Sylvan Lake Camping

The first week of August was spent at Sylvan lake in a campground with all of my family. It was nice to go somewhere close to home and still be able to all get together. We got the group camping site and lucked out by not having to share it which was amazing! The kids all got to work collecting firewood and then we all just set up camp and hung out.

Muffy was mid move to Alaska and struggled to keep her eyes open.

It was pretty rainy and cold while we were there which was sad because we had big plans of taking the boat out everyday. Luckily we were still able to enjoy ourselves. We celebrated my mom's birthday during camping with a trip to wal mart and mcdonalds for dollar beverages. Elise had hurt her back wakeboarding so she drove around like a cripple in the electric wheelchair. We were also blessed to find female urinals for the steal of only 25 cents each!

Due to the rain we decided to build our fire inside the shelter. It was a full time job keeping kids (Mostly Cohen and Mason) from burning things or falling in the fire. But it sure kept our shelter warm!

To escape the rain we headed in to Red Deer for the afternoon and went to Shaun the Sheep. It was pretty painful but the kids seemed to enjoy themselves so I call that a win. My mom has a special talent and can fall asleep anywhere...and stay asleep long after the movie is over. She must have been really tired?

Tyler and Denton seem to have the same ability. Tim unfortunately doesn't possess this amazing quality.

The kids had a blast playing in the trees and the huge green space. The rain didn't seem to stop them from having fun which was great. They flew kites, played tennis and kicked a soccer ball.

The men were pretty excited about fishing and definitely got use of the boat for that purpose. Quinn and Cohen even got to go out with them. A few fish were caught and thrown back.

We got a break in the rain for the afternoon one day and got out on the boat. Quinn loved the easy ski and never wanted to quit. Scarlett rode the easy ski with me...harder than it sounds. Elise seriously injured her back wakeboarding and Tyler wakeboarded like a champ. I can't wait until next summer when I'm not pregnant and can wakeboard again!

Finally it was time to pack up camp and head to Wild Rapids Waterslides. Luckily it was warmish and we were able to get our full moneys worth. Tyler ditched his poor prego wife to go fishing on the morning we were supposed to pack up camp so my sister documented it. It was a sight to see...

Wild Rapids was pretty fun. Even pregnant I still managed to ride a few of the slides and enjoy myself. Quinn and Scarlett loved the kid slides and it was fun to have lots of people so some could watch kids and some could slide. Sheri and the boys even made the trip up to hang out with us. It was great to see them.

My favorite slide was the taco waterslide. My mom didn't ride anything all day and at the end we finally convinced her to go on it. She didn't follow directions and put her chin down so her head whipped back and she got a serious case of whiplash. She ended the ride in wicked pain yelling "I'm paralyzed!" It was something.

After the slides we hit up the most delicious ice cream place before heading back to Edmonton. Nothing like a little sugar to finish off a great holiday.
