Jasper

Next up in our summer adventure schedule was our annual trip to Jasper. We were supposed to go with Famulaks and Starks but sadly Nick injured his ankle and toe a few days before the trip so Famulaks had to miss out. We were pretty stressed about the rainy weather that we were supposed to have but we powered through and actually had a great time. Right as we were driving into the park we saw a bear! I was pretty excited about it. We got there late Thursday night and set up camp in the rain. Then had a nice rainy sleep and started the fun on Friday.

These 4 got along pretty well the entire time. I love that they are all the same ages. Maybe next time Robin can have a girl to go with my boy? Here's hoping!

Friday morning was pretty rainy so we headed into town to the Rec Center. This pool was pretty sweet. We were pretty much the only ones there and they let our kids waterslide alone as much as they wanted.

The weather didn't bother Scarlett at all. She stripped down to her diaper and tried to wear just that around the campsite.

We headed into town for some ice cream and wandering. The kids love this train and play on it every year.

 I always tell people that haven't been to Jasper that the Elk here are like deer in waterton. They just hang out and wander through your campsite. They are really quite large. This one was right outside the bathrooms where we were washing our dishes.

We had a few minutes of sunnyish weather and decided to hit up the beach at Lake Annette. This is my favorite thing to do in Jasper. The beach is awesome and the water isn't too cold. Scarlett could dig in the sand all day if we let her.

So Tyler got 7 lipomas removed a few days before we left to Jasper. The day before we left his incision burst open at crossfit and a whole bunch of crap drained out. He went back to the doctor who refused to put him on antibiotics and sent him on his way. On Friday in Jasper Tyler started to have some serious symptoms of infection and finally decided to go to the Emergency there. They put him on some IV antibiotics and he had to make frequent trips back to get another dose. By the time we got home on Sunday night it was still not healed so he went to the hospital where they cleaned and packed the wound and put him on a course of IV then oral antibiotics. He also had to go back to get his wound redressed every couple days. He also had a bone scan, xrays, and an MRI. It was quite the ordeal. He is all healed up now but it was a rough go for awhile!

We found a hike called valley of the 5 lakes which trip advisor said was good for toddlers. I carried Scar the whole way and I was exhausted. Quinn did better on this hike than bears hump and the views were gorgeous.

We went out for supper and at some delicious pizza one night. We also love to get all the classic Jasper pictures.

 Scar got bit by a mosquito above her eye and it swelled up like crazy. She looked like Sloth from the Goonies...only cuter.

On our last day in Jasper we packed up and headed out. We walked around town and said goodbye with sadness. I LOVE Jasper! Also the kids had chips for breakfast and ice cream for lunch. Parenting win.
